Handwritten family records: Marriage entries of Thomas and Mary Caroline Gibbes (1855), as well as other family marriages recorded into the late 1800s.

Direct provenance to the Thomas family.

Historical Significance:
Thomas was a Citadel graduate, Confederate officer, and author of The History of the South Carolina Military Academy (1893). His leadership and writings made him a central figure in South Carolina education and Confederate history. Family Bibles with such clear, personal inscriptions and genealogical records from notable historical figures are exceedingly rare.

Condition:
Binding shows wear consistent with age; inscriptions remain legible and well-preserved.
